Full moon calendar 2025: When to see the next full moon
When is the next full moon?
The next full moon will be on Sunday, Sept. 7. It will officially reach its full moon phase at 2:09 p.m. (1809 GMT), but local moonrise times vary depending on location. The moon will still appear full the night before and after its peak to the casual stargazer.
The next full moon will be a blood moon, with a total lunar eclipsevisible across Europe, Asia and Western Australia.
Most of the time, the full moon isn't perfectly full. We always see the same side of the moon, but part of it is in shadow, due to the moon's rotation. Only when the moon, Earth and the sun are perfectly aligned is the moon 100% full.
And sometimes — once in a blue moon — the moon is full twice in a month (or four times in a season, depending on which definition you prefer).

According to NASA, the full moon will reach its peak illumination at 1:55 a.m. on Friday, but the total lunar eclipse will make the moon appear red earlier on Thursday.
Depending on the time zone you're in, the red moon may even still be visible through the following day.
WCCO meteorologist Mike Augustyniak says that clouds are likely to block the show in most of Minnesota and Wisconsin. However, there is a chance for breaks in the clouds leaving behind clear skies.
In Minnesota, should the clouds break, the partial eclipse will be visible at approximately 12:09 a.m., the total eclipse will begin at appro
